What actually happens when you book a detail at freshcardetail.
The studio process, step by step. What we do, why we do it in this order, and what to expect from first contact to vehicle collection.
Detailing done in the right order is detailing done once.
Every step in a professional detail exists for a reason. The sequence is not arbitrary — each stage prepares the surface for the next. Skipping steps does not save time; it undermines the result of every stage that follows.
At freshcardetail, the process is the same on every vehicle — the only variable is the scope of work, which is determined at assessment.
From enquiry to collection.
Initial contact & vehicle details
The first step is a conversation. Contact us by phone, email, or WhatsApp with your vehicle details — make, model, year, colour, and what concerns you about the paint or interior condition. Photos help. We will tell you honestly what the vehicle likely needs and which service is the right starting point.
Assessment & quote
When your vehicle arrives, we inspect it under proper lighting before any work begins. Paint depth is measured. Defects are identified and documented. Interior condition is assessed. From this inspection we confirm the scope of work, the timeline, and the exact price. Nothing proceeds without your confirmation. There are no mid-job surprises.
Pre-wash & safe wash
Every job starts the same way: a snow foam pre-wash to dwell and soften surface contamination before any contact is made. This is followed by a safe two-bucket hand wash — wheels and arches first, then the body panel by panel. The goal of the wash stage is to remove everything that washing can remove without adding new marks in the process.
Decontamination
After the wash, the paint still contains contamination that water and soap cannot remove. Iron fallout remover is applied to dissolve ferrous particles from brake dust. Tar remover addresses petrochemical deposits from road film. A clay bar pass then mechanically lifts anything that survived the chemical stage. The surface is ready for correction or protection only once this is complete.
Paint correction (where required)
If the scope includes paint correction, this stage begins with a test panel — an area of paint corrected under controlled conditions to establish the right product and machine combination for this specific vehicle's clear coat. Correction is then worked panel by panel in systematic sections. The number of stages (1-stage, 2-stage) is determined at assessment; we do not apply more correction than the paint needs or can safely give.
Protection application
Once the paint is in the correct condition, protection is applied. This might be a ceramic coating (preceded by an IPA panel wipe to remove all polish oils), a paint sealant, or a maintenance wax. We use the product appropriate to the service booked and do not apply protection to paint that has not been properly prepared.
Interior work
Interior work runs in parallel with or following exterior work, depending on the job. This includes vacuuming, surface wipe-down with appropriate products for each material, and steam or wet-vac extraction for seats, carpet, and mats. Every vent, pocket, and trim panel is addressed — not sprayed and wiped with one product.
Final inspection & glass clean
Before we contact you for collection, the vehicle goes through a final inspection under a dedicated inspection light. Every panel is checked. Glass is cleaned streak-free inside and out. Tyres and trim are dressed. The vehicle is not released until it passes this check.
Collection & handover
You collect your vehicle at the agreed time. We walk you through what was done: which products were used, the correction results, and the protection applied. If you had ceramic coating applied, we provide a written maintenance guide. For everything, we answer your questions honestly before you leave.
